The scale of the hypocrisy that infects our entire judicial system is difficult to fathom until you see it up close, and realize that prosecutors routinely commit crimes for which they prosecute others (examples from 2017 alone: prosecutor arrested for DUI, another prosecutor arrested for DUI, prosecutor charged with prostitution, prosecutor charged with domestic violence assault, to cite a few), and judges routinely sit in judgment of others for crimes they have also committed themselves (more examples from 2017: county judge charged with DWI, judge arrested on obstruction and witness tampering charges, judge arrested for human trafficking, and here’s a 2016 case in which a judge was arrested for DWI on her way to court).
It has always been difficult for me to comprehend the ease with which cops, prosecutors, and judges are able to take steps to deprive others of their liberty, while committing the same crimes in their private lives — and more often than not, simply not getting caught.
